Aufruf an die 27 Staats- und Regierungschefs, im Juni 2023 die Verhandlungen über den Beitritt der Ukraine zur Europäischen Union zu eröffnen

Am 24. Februar 2022 nahm Russland seinen unerklärten Krieg gegen die Ukraine in großem Maßstab wieder auf. Bei dieser neuen, wahrhaft kolonialen Offensive Russlands wird systematisch das Kriegsrecht, insbesondere das humanitäre Recht, verletzt: massive und wahllose Bombardierungen, Vergewaltigungen, Kindesentführungen, Deportationen und summarische Hinrichtungen von Zivilisten, Folter, Hinrichtungen von Kriegsgefangenen, massive und gezielte Zerstörung ziviler Infrastruktur, …

Nachdem die 27 EU-Mitgliedstaaten enorme Widerstände und Vorbehalte überwunden hatten, die von der russischen Soft Power im Westen seit langem kultiviert worden waren, gewährten sie der Ukraine im Juni 2022 schließlich den Status eines EU-Beitrittskandidaten.

Heute deutet alles darauf hin, dass die einem raschen Beitritt der Ukraine feindlich gesinnten Kräfte wieder am Werk sind. Wie sonst könnte man die Äußerungen der Präsidentin der Europäischen Kommission interpretieren, die vor kurzem gegenüber Präsident Zelensky sagte, dass „zwischen heute und dieser besseren Zukunft möglicherweise noch ein mühsamer Weg liegt“. On 24 February 2022, Russia relaunched its undeclared war against Ukraine on a grand scale. This new Russian offensive, imperialist in the truest sense, has been pursued in systematic violation of the laws of war, in particular humanitarian ones: massive and indiscriminate bombing, rapes, abductions of children, deportations and summary executions of civilians, torture, executions of prisoners of war, large-scale and deliberate destruction of civilian infrastructure, and so on.

In June 2022, the EU 27 finally granted Ukraine candidate status to the European Union. This meant overcoming enormous resistance and misgivings that had long been cultivated by Russian soft power in the West.

Today, there is every reason to believe that the forces hostile to Ukraine’s rapid EU accession are once again at work. How else should we interpret the statements of the European Commission president who, speaking to President Zelensky, recently said that “Between now and this bright future, there may be a hard road to tread”. There are persistent untruths, such as the one according to which a revision of the Treaties would suddenly become indispensable with the forthcoming enlargement of the European Union to include Ukraine, Moldova and the Balkan countries.

This is to overlook the fact that the EU was unable to foresee, let alone prevent, the massive invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation on 24 February last year. With the exception of the United Kingdom, which has since departed, this is the same Union that acknowledged – if not formally 1, at least de facto – the annexation of Crimea and the latent incorporation of the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Luhansk by the Russian Federation. Die Idee, dass eine Revision der Verträge der Europäischen Union aufgrund ihrer bevorstehenden Erweiterung um die Ukraine, Moldawien und die Balkanländer plötzlich unerlässlich sei, zählt zu den hartnäckigen Unwahrheiten.

Dabei wird nämlich außer Acht gelassen, dass die Union nicht in der Lage war, die massive Invasion der Ukraine durch die Russische Föderation am 24. Februar 2022 vorherzusehen, geschweige denn zu verhindern. Lire la suite →

Ci sono persistenti contro-verità, come quella secondo cui una revisione dei Trattati diventerebbe improvvisamente necessaria a causa del prossimo allargamento dell’Unione europea all’Ucraina, alla Moldavia e ai paesi balcanici.

Questo significa semplicemente trascurare il fatto che l’Ue non è stata in grado di prevedere, e tanto meno di prevenire, la massiccia invasione dell’Ucraina da parte della Federazione Russa il 24 febbraio scorso. Lire la suite →
